Our ability to deposit PVD coatings using cathodic arc, electron beam, plasma enhanced magnetron sputtering and plasma enhanced CVD allows us to develop custom coatings or coating compositions to meet specific performance requirements. Coatings have been developed to combat friction, wear, fretting, erosion and corrosion. With the wide range of deposition processes available or engineering staff can deposit the coatings at temperatures that will not affect your substrate.

Our tribologists can work with your engineering staff to determine the failure mechanism and recommend a solution. We have an extensive tribological laboratory with more than 24 test benches that can be used to determine how the component reacts with different surface treatments. Our staff will work with you evaluating your component in a real world environment providing valuable data about the component's performance.

In addition to PVD/PECVD capabilities NCT also can provide plasma nitriding, melonite QPQ and ferritic nitrocarburizing of ferrous alloys. With the plasma nitriding selective nitriding can be accomplished. Nitriding processes have been developed for customer specific applications creating a case hardened layer to perform in a targeted environment. Duplex processes can also be provided when the substrate experiences high loads and additional support is required for one of the thin film coatings. Our wide range of DLC coatings have solved many component failures. Our engineering staff will evaluate your applications and we will tailor our DLC coatings to meet your performance requirements. With our PEMS technology multilayer DLC films can be deposited when a layered coating is required to meet performance requirements and improve the coating’s performance. With our CAM technology we can deposit our DLC coatings as low as 120 C with no degradation in film quality. This allows our customers to choose from a wide range of substrate materials for their applications.
