Job Summary – Metallurgical Lab/Quality Technician - SHOW - - HIDE -

 

Northeast Coating Technologies provides PVD Coatings, Salt Bath Nitro-Carburizing, and Plasma Ion Nitriding to metallic surfaces such as cutting tools, medical instruments, aerospace components, and decorative applications.

Our wear-resistant coatings, treatments, and related services consistently maintain and exceed our customer’s requirements. This is accomplished through the education, innovation, and dedication of our people who are committed to continually improving the effectiveness of the quality management system.

We are currently seeking a first-shift or split shift, entry-level, Lab Technician to assist the Lab Manager in providing quality control tests of metallurgy, chemistry, and physical performance. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

Mount and polish metallurgical samples of product

Test samples of coatings and treatments to verify conformity to specifications

Prepare liquid-chemical solutions according to standard formulas

Test for chemical composition of the Salt Bath Nitride process

Set-up, calibrate, load, and adjust numerous test-equipment

Record test results on standardized forms. Prepare reports from standards

Clean and sanitize laboratory equipment

Qualification and Skill Requirements:

US Citizen; High School Grad or equivalent; Some college preferred

Full Time, vested employment at NCT

Communications skills to read, write, and record with attention-to-detail

Basic math skills to calculate from standard formula

Ability to interpret documents such as coating and test specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, blue-prints, graphs and charts

Basic computer operations and Inputs to standardized programs

Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time

Fine motor skills with frequent hand-eye movement. Pass eye exam

Moderate twisting and bending. Ability to lift 50 pounds

Good problem solving; and ability to work independently

Strict protocol required for safety and specification
